Texas Holdem Limit Turn

The Flop is the cheap round in Texas Holdem Limit games. You will see there many raises (for deception or with draws) also from weaker hands.

On the Turn the bet size doubles. This is where normally the truth about the hands is revealed.

Important are now:

  • Initiative
  • Number of opponents in the hand
  • Position
  • Board structure
  • Our Hand Strength

Initiative

You have the initiative in the hand when you were raising preflop and betting/raising on the flop without getting reraised.

When you were the aggressor preflop and on the flop you should normally continue betting.

Example:  You have

King of spades  King of hearts

and you've raised Preflop. One player was calling.

The Flop is

Ten of spades  7 of clubs  2 of clubs

You bet and the opponent is calling again.

The Turn is

Ace of hearts

You have to bet again !

You cannot give your opponent a free card.

When he has an Ace he will probably raise. Then you can safely fold.

Rule:

When you have only a one pair pair hand on the Turn and you get raised, you should normally fold.

Only when the pot is very big, you can risk a call.

Draws:

When you are drawing (OESD or Flush) you should play passive on the Turn.

Strong draws you should call according to odds and outs.

When you have hit your flop draw on then turn, you have to play aggressive.

The reason is that other drawing players will only pay you on the Turn to see the next card.

When they don't hit, they won't pay you on the River anymore.
